Hello.
I’m a girl from the Canadian prairies who likes wide-open spaces, fresh ideas and a great story.
I like to write feature stories about architecture, urban, rural and lakeside living, cool neighbourhoods, and everything from business to pleasure (tourism and travel).
In addition to feature writing, I work with entrepreneurs, artists and non-profit organizations to tell their best stories — in print, on their websites or online — and provide copywriting that helps promotes their businesses, services and the good work that they do.
I believe that powerful writing can link the artistic with the practical; and the stories we write about fascinating people, businesses or lives, not only inform or entertain us, but also connect and inspire us.
My feature writing has appeared in: Ottawa Citizen, Winnipeg Free Press, The Western Producer, The Cottager, Manitoba Business Magazine, Manitoba’s Northern Experience, Home & City, Manitoba Gardener, Ciao, up! (WestJet’s magazine) and Winnipeg Men magazine.
I’m the current editor of Winnipeg Women/Winnipeg Men magazine, a guide to local living in a thriving prairie city; and I’m the former editor of The Cottager, a magazine about lakeside living in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
In 2008, I co-authored the Manitoba Book of Everything, an insider’s guide to my home province and its arts, culture, history, weather and more.
I have a Master of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Nursing, love both the arts and sciences, and like to use both sides of my brain.
Second only to my love of writing is my passion for travel… locally and internationally.
Upwardly global, I have lived and worked in Canada, the USA (Los Angeles) and Australia; studied in Britain and France; and travelled extensively throughout North America, Europe and Southeast Asia. South America (Argentina) and South Africa are next on my list, should anyone reading this need a writer in those fabulous places.
At the moment, I live and work in Winnipeg, Canada, and keep my laptop handy and my passport current.
