ProfileBarbara EdieOwner of RiverRoad Communications Inc., Barbara Edie is a professional writer and editor with a Master of Arts in Journalism. Her writing has appeared in several magazines and newspapers featuring stories ranging from human interest to architecture, from urban lifestyles to life at the cottage, and from business to pleasure (food, entertainment and travel). Barbara has also edited or contributed to a wide range of publications covering agriculture, health care, trade and tourism.Recently, she co-authored the Manitoba Book of Everything, published in October 2008. In the corporate sector, RiverRoad Communications Inc., has worked with companies to create fresh advertising and savvy marketing materials, as well as dynamic websites, to grab the attention of their respective audiences. With a degree in journalism and a Bachelor of Nursing, Barbara has a background in both the arts and sciences, and likes to use both sides of her brain. Truly a global citizen, Barbara has lived and worked in Canada, the United States and Australia, studied in Britain and France, and travelled extensively in North America, Europe and Southeast Asia. And no matter where you are in the world, she believes a good script, and a good scribe, can take you places... places that inform, entertain, inspire or move people to action. A former associate editor of several trade and association magazines, Barbara is the current editor of The Cottager, a Canadian magazine about lakeside living in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. Other published credits include: The Ottawa Citizen, The Winnipeg Free Press, The Western Producer, Manitoba Business, Manitoba’s Northern Experience, Home & City, Manitoba Gardener, The University of Winnipeg Journal, Ciao! and up! (West Jet's magazine). In addition to magazine editing experience, Barbara edited Planting the Seed of Hope, a 200-page book celebrating prairie life, as well as Dugald Train Disaster: Memories from 1947, a collection of stories about an historical event in Manitoba, Canada. She is a former publicist for Prairie Theatre Exchange, and has worked in corporate communications for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg, and Protegra Inc., a global information technology and business solutions company.
